DN Feature: Robbie Kohl vs Brandon Soppe

Both duelists here are people I know rather closely, knowing Robbie Kohl for nearly 6 or 7 years. Brandon Soppe I've known not nearly as long as Robbie Kohl, but a few years less. Today Robbie is playing Machina Gadget while Brandon is running Lightsworns.

Brandon starts this game off by activating Solar Recharge, discarding Wulf, Lightsworn Beast to draw 2. Milling Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior and Hand Destruction. He proceeds to Normal Summon Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner and pitches his Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress to Special Summon Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior from his Graveyard. He sets 1 spell or trap to his back row and ends his turn. Milling Dark Armed Dragon, Monster Reborn, and Blackwing - Zephyrus the Elite off of his Lumina's effect. Followed by his Garoth milling Hand Destruction and Wulf, Lightsworn Beast allowing Brandon to draw 1 card and to Special Summon his Wulf from the Graveyard.

Robbie was up, starting off by summoning his Machina Gearframe, searching for a Machina Fortress from his deck. Then he discarded Machina Fortress and another Machine-Type monster to Special Summon his Fortress. Machina Gearframe attacks into Lumina, destroying it and dropping Brandon down to 7200 life points. Fortress takes down Brandons Wulf, leaving Brandon with 6800 life points. Robbie sets 1 card to his back row and equips his Gearframe to his Machina Fortress before declaring the end of his turn. During Robbie's end phase Brandon flips his face down Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying Robbie's set Bottomless Trap Hole.

Play was back to Brandon who started off his turn by activating Allure of Darkness, banishing Tragoedia from his hand. He sets a monster and switches his Garoth to defense position and ends his turn.

Robbie used the effect of his Machina Gearframe to resummon it to the field in attack position then Normal Summoned Doomcaliber Knight. Robbie declared battle, attacking Garoth with his Gearframe. Doomcaliber swung into Brandon's face down Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter but its effect was negated due to Doomcaliber Knights mandatory effect! Leaving Brandon open for a direct attack by Machina Fortress. Brandon Special Summoned his Gorz the Emissary of Darkness. Brandon now down to 4300 life points.

Brandon started off his turn by activating a second copy of Solar Recharge, this time discarding a Ryko from his hand, milling Honest and his last Solar Recharge. He Special Summons Judgement Dragon, paying 1000 life points to destroy all cards on the field. Robbie Special Summoned his Meklord Emperor Wisel from his hand and Brandon pays another 1000 life points to wipe the field yet again. He places one card face down in his spell or trap zone then plays his Card Destruction, forcing both players to discard and redraw the same number of cards they discarded. Brandon drawing 1 new card, and Robbie drawing 2. Brandon proceeds to summon another Judgment Dragon, then activates his face down Charge of the Light Brigade, milling Card Trooper, Chaos Sorcerer and Jain, Lightsworn Paladin. Adding a Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress to his hand. Brandon returns one of his Judgment Dragons from his field to his hand to Special Summon his Zephyrus from his Graveyard then re-Special Summons Judgment Dragon to the field. Normal Summoning his Lyla and attacking with all of his monsters, reducing Robbie's life points to 0!
